Certified Veterinary Technician
Kate grew up in Kansas with her sister and her parents. Early on, Kates’ parents instilled a love of animals and the natural world in her. Kate’s desire to help animals, both pets and animals, live healthy lives led her to pursue a career in the veterinary field. She has worked in wildlife rehabilitation, veterinary diagnostic labs, and as a zookeeper of Australian animals.
In college, Kate’s passion for wildlife was reinforced on a trip to study mountain lions. Her interest in wildlife diseases sparked a love of biology, specifically microbiology and epidemiology. This trip also led to one of Kate’s hobbies. To be sure she was physically fit for the excursion, Kate took up running. Kate is an experienced violinist, playing from the age of three throughout her college years.
Kate enjoys educating owners about their pet’s health and loves learning more about veterinary medicine. She keeps up to date on current animal health knowledge and feels diagnostic tests are the best tool to help narrow down problematic conditions.
In her spare time, Kate enjoys yoga and continues to run. She participated in a Ragnar relay race from Madison, WI to Chicago, IL. Her three children keep her busy with their extra-curricular activities: theater, dance, and volleyball. Kate’s dog, Jack, lives for walks and food. She also has three cats at home. Kate refers to MJ as her queen cat. Truman is her cat that acts like a dog. And Harry is the boundary-pusher.
