Happy Spring everyone! I hope the warm days and sunshine finds you well as we enter the month of May. Spring months are the busiest for groomers, and you may find yourself in a situation where you can’t bring your pooch into their usual spa day as soon as you may want. Here are a few tips for you to make it through an extra couple of weeks until your next grooming appointment:

  1. Be sure to continue with your brushing routine. At least once a day is recommended to help upkeep your pet’s coat, and wet weather can expedite matting that may occur due to your pet being a bit shaggier than normal. Be sure to keep an eye on their legs and take special care to brush them out, as that is the part of their body I find is most commonly matted. Coat care is time consuming, but it doesn’t have to be expensive. I recommend the miracle coat brush for general brushing, a stainless-steel metal comb to check your work and see if you got out all of the tangles (you should be able to brush it through the coat without catching), and a mat breaker in case you have some slight matting that can’t come out with the brush. For a demonstration of how to use these tools for proper brushing, feel free to reach out to our salon and I’d be happy to help!
  2. Set up an appointment for standalone services, such as a nail trim, face trim, sanitary trim, etc. Full haircut appointments are the most time-consuming part of grooming, so it might be much easier for you to get in and do some essentials in between each appointment. Your dog’s best interest always comes first, so if I can help I absolutely will. Don’t be afraid to call and see what we can do in the meantime before your next appointment!
  3. Set up future appointments right away. Booking in advance not only guarantees that you’ll be able to get in during the time frame you’d like, but it also gives you the peace of mind knowing that your pup’s grooming needs are taken care of during the busy summer months that eventually turn into the busy holiday seasons. 6-8 weeks may feel like a long time to call and book your dog’s next appointment, but as a fellow procrastinator, trust me when I say that it goes by much faster than it seems!

These are just a few of the ways you can take care of your pet’s grooming needs during this busy springtime season. If you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out to me and I’ll help in any way I can!
